There’s something about the arrival of a kererū that makes you stop and look.
Large, unmistakable and surprisingly graceful, they’ll settle into a tree to feed, seemingly oblivious to anyone watching, before launching themselves back into the air with that wonderfully noisy rush of wings.
A Place to Pause captures one of those quiet encounters. The rich greens and flashes of violet in the kererū’s plumage sit against a soft turquoise background, while the warm berries bring a little burst of colour to the scene.
