There's something rather wonderful about watching a bumblebee bury itself deep inside a flower, completely absorbed in the important business of being a bee.
Dahlia Delight captures one of those small summer moments, a bumblebee nestled amongst the rich pink petals of a dahlia, surrounded by the colour and abundance of the garden.
Created from my original soft pastel painting, this fine art print retains the wonderfully velvety texture of the dahlia petals, the tiny detail of the bee and those glorious flashes of pink, violet and green.
It's a celebration of the quieter wildlife found right outside our doors, and a little reminder of how much is happening in the garden when we stop long enough to notice.

Why This Piece?
This one began in my own garden.
I've been growing more flowers with bees and butterflies in mind, and dahlias have become one of those wonderful places where there always seems to be something happening. I love watching a bumblebee disappear head-first into a flower, completely oblivious to everything else while it gets on with the important business of being a bee.
Dahlia Delight came from wanting to capture one of those tiny encounters. Not a grand wildlife moment somewhere far away, but the quiet wild happening right outside the door.
